Ch. Bluecollar's Starship Mercury CD RA NA NAJ CGC TT (Star)

My first show puppy! What excitement! Initially, I thought that I would handle Star myself at the smaller shows and then count on a professional handler to show her at large shows. However, I had so much fun showing her myself (and learning the ropes), and then we won that first major, and I decided to keep showing her. I have really enjoyed this whole experience and I have met some wonderful people through it - most importantly, Star's breeders, Dan and Wendy Still, of Bluecollar Boxers. I could not have done this without their support. So, thanks to them!

19th October 2003, Belton, Texas. Imagine my surprise and joy when Star wins her 1st point on her first show weekend. She wins Best of Opposite Sex under judge Thomas Squicciarini. This was definitely enough to hook me and keep me coming back for more.

24th January 2004, Abilene, Texas. Star wins Best of Opposite Sex under judge Mrs L.K. Davis and adds another point to her tally.

14th March 2004, Houston, Texas. A day I will never forget! Stars wins Best of Winner's under judge Ms Nikki Riggsbee, adding 4 points to her tally. This was her FIRST major. Star was also perfect and she deserved to win. The judge had pulled 3 of us out (2 professional handlers and myself) and was having us stack and gait and then free-stack.....very stressful. I know the moment we won too - I have it captured on video. Star turned her head to look at the judge, as if asking her to give it to her, and a second later the judge pointed at us to indicate the win. What excitement! In the Winner's Group, Star won Best of Winner's and Millie, her mom, won Best of Opposite Sex.

10th April 2004, Stephenville, Texas. Star wins Best of Winner's under judge Dr Sam F. Burke Jr. and adds another point to her tally.

25th June 2004, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Star wins Best of Winner's under judge Mr. Carl E Gomes and adds another point to her tally.

11 July 2004, San Antonio, Texas. Star wins Winner's Bitch under judge Ms. Irene Bivin, adding 3 points to her tally. This is her SECOND major. This was an unbelievable win. It had been a tough 3 days of showing and Star had not even placed in her class. She just wasn't doing well and I couldn't get her to look excited in the ring. On the Saturday night I nearly packed up and headed home thinking that there was just no chance for us to win. I was thrilled on the Sunday to win her class and I went into Winner's Bitch just happy to be there and not expecting to win at all. So, it was a huge surprise to win, totally unexpected.
