Ch. Bluecollar's Starship Mercury CD RA NA NAJ CGC TT (Star)
DOB : 04/13/2003 - 12/23/2011, COD - Brain Tumor
Star at 8 years
Star is a real lover and a cuddler. Loves everyone, especially children. Thinks she is a lap dog. Spoilt rotten. Loves to play with her toys - especially her MINKEY (a stuffed monkey). Strong prey drive. Surprisingly, enough, she has turned out to be a great mamma dog. On 12/26/2006 she whelped her first litter of 7 puppies. She took great care of them and was even allowing the pups to get slurps of milk as they walked out of the door at 8 weeks of age.
For me, Star is a once in a lifetime kinda dog. She is a beautiful girl who takes my breath away, and we have built up a very special bond with all of the training and competing that we have done. She doesn't particularily like competing but she has been kind enough to humor me and do so, and also to put up with all of the mistakes that I made while training her. Star no longer competes but she is still my husband's running buddy, and a constant snuggle companion for both of us.

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
